Morlais Castle provided almost perfect conditions for players in the Championship as did the weather, as long as the players had done their conditioning in the Sahara desert - the heat for the afternnon round was something the players raely experience but most still managed excellent scores.

Round 1

It soon became clear from the early returns that it would take a sub-par round to be leader after round 1. So it proved with both Jack Bush (Morlais Castle) and Ryan Thomas (Vale of Glamorgan) returning gross 70's. With 9 players returning 75 or better there was everything to play for in round 2.

Round 2

The pattern of round 1 was repeated with the scores being just higher than in round 1Ryan Thomas' s two round total of 143 became the target and although U/14 player Tim harry came near with a second round 72 to add to his first round 73 but it wasn't quite good enough. However Tim's effort was all the more remarkable as he had to contend with the worst of the heat, not easy when you are under 14!.

Overall a highly successful Championship marked by the extremely high standard of golf shown particularly by the younger element.
