Mountain Ash 19th July:

Morlais Castle win Team Handicap Championship:

A fine team performance (Individual Nett scores of 69, 70 and 69) by R. Albert, M. Healy and D. Thomas won the Team Handicap Championship for Morlais Castle

That the CSS was 70 (SSS+1) shows how well al players in the team scored. Second only two shots further back were Wenvoe Castle with Pontypridd taking third spot on Count-back from Neath and Langland Bay.

J. Rees (Neath) playing off 5 won the individual prize with a fine 70 nett 65.

Channel League: County Defeat Gwent at Pontypool

County Captain Richie Evans' team pulled off an 8 - 7 victory over local rivals Gwent at Pontypool. This puts the team firmly back into the race for the Daily Telegraph Channel League title.

Ross McLister Wins Welsh Boys:

County Junior Champion Ross McLister (Cardiff) followed up his semi-final victory over Mike Hearne with a 2 & 1 win in the final to become the 2008 Welsh Boys' Champion.

 

County have 3 in Championship Semis:

Newport Wed.: 3 Glamorgan players, Mike Hearne (Southerndown), Ross McLister (Cardiff) and Patrick Mullins (Whitchurch) all reached the semi-finals of the Welsh Boys' Championship at Newport today. Also Dale Parry (Pontypridd), and Matthew Phythian (Rhondda) were beaten quarter-finalists

Ross McLister (Cardiff) won the County Junior Championship after a play-off with Alastair Jones of (Radyr), both players having tied on 146.

Clyne 22/06: Richard Hooper (Neath) wins County Championship

Richard Hooper (Neath) with a two-round score of 148 (75, 73) won the County Championship at an extremely windy Clyne yesterday. His two round score won the Championship by 5 strokes from Clyne player Tim Rees with Radyr's Brent O'Neill one shot further back in third spot.

Ian Flower wins Morlais Castle Bowl

Ian Flower (Mountain Ash) with two rounds of 71 won the first competition for the Morlais Castle Bowl.

Local player Wayne Jones was second on 146 with County Captain Richie Evans and Vale's Luke Thomas

on 148.

Match v Dinas Powis

The JH Evans Trophy passed a milestone recently.with the 60th anniversary of the first playng of this annual match between Dinas Powis and the County. President Roger Jones, Chairman Mike Evans and Captain Richard Evans had assembled a side that included Past Presidents (Dennis Bartlett and Duncan Samuel), past County Captains (Roger Maliphant and Carl Rowe). The Trophy, retained by the County was presented at the "salmon supper" with a commemorative salver to mark the occasion.
